Who's Down Today is a public status utility. This page explains what we handle when you visit, report a problem, or use a tool — and what we do not keep.

No public accounts
There is nothing to sign up for. Admin access is limited to configured staff.
No raw IPs on reports
Problem reports store a salted hash, not your address as a report field.
No profiles or sales
We do not use these tools to build a profile or sell personal data.
Anonymous problem reports store a salted IP hash, an anonymous session cookie named wdt_session, the report type, and an optional short message. Raw IP addresses are used only to compute the hash and apply short-lived rate limits; they are not stored as report fields.
The website checker stores no browsing history. Individual check results are used only to show you the outcome of that request. The check fetches the public site you entered to read DNS, HTTP, TLS, and a page title, and may load a homepage screenshot from WordPress mShots. We do not keep those results after you leave the page.
The What Is My IP tool displays your public address in the browser and does not store that lookup. To detect IPv4, IPv6, and approximate location, your browser may contact independent IP echo and geolocation services. Those providers see the request the same way any website would, and they process it under their own policies.
The optional map preview loads Google Maps, which may set cookies and process coordinates under Google's policy. We do not use these tools to build a profile or sell personal data.
The DNS lookup tool queries public resolvers (Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 and Google 8.8.8.8) over DNS-over-HTTPS for the hostname or public IP you entered. It does not fetch the website itself. Approximate location for a resolved address may be requested from ipwho.is. A homepage screenshot may load from WordPress mShots, and the map preview may load Google Maps. Those providers see the request under their own policies. Individual lookup results are shown in your browser and are not stored.
Rate-limit records expire automatically. Admin authentication is limited to configured staff accounts. There are no public user accounts.
If Google Analytics, Google AdSense, or Google Maps is enabled, those providers may set cookies and process data under their own policies.
We may use third-party automated services, including AI providers, to help research, organize, and refresh publicly available information about monitored companies and online services for editorial About sections. We do not intentionally send visitor IP addresses, user-report identifiers, analytics data, or other personal information to AI providers for that purpose. AI is not used to determine whether a service is operational.
Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, or other identifiers to serve and measure advertising on Who's Down Today. Google and its advertising partners may use information about visits to this and other websites to provide and measure ads. Users may manage their advertising preferences through Google's advertising settings. For more information, see how Google uses data on partner websites and apps.
